Composting and Worm Composting (Vermiculture)

Homies:

The City of Thousand Oaks (where I live) offers subsidized prices for composters and worm composters. Here's the webpage:

http://www.composters.com/1000oaks/to.shtml

Basically, we can get traditional or worm composters for organic waste and two kitchen scrap carriers, one for upstairs, the other for downstairs (Cost: $20/composter or $88.22/worm composter + worms plus $29.90 for two kitchen scrap carriers @ $14.95 each for a total of either $49.90 [traditional composter plus scrap carriers] or $118.12 [worm composter plus scrap carriers]--not including shipping).

If we want to pursue vermiculture, I think we can keep the worm bin in the shipping container, as long as it doesn't get too hot in there. They like cool, dark environments. The traditional composter is definitely the cheaper option, but takes longer to process waste and is subject to vandalism. Worms, according to the website, consume 5 to 8 pounds of scraps per day.
