Hello Green Team!!
We were discussing batteries this morning and it came to me...
The office is not recycling old batteries. Can this be discussed at the next meeting?
Also what about recycling florescent light tubes. I know we discussed this, but unfortunately I can not remember the outcome.

We should definitely start battery and lightbulb recycling if it's not already happening. Could we also talk about coordination of the paper recycling? I'm going to look up how much blue bins for everyone's office might cost. I think we'd have alot more paper recycling if it was more convenient. But the costs of the bins will have to be considered...
I called the City of Calabasas some time ago and they have a battery recycling program. The next step is to order some of those plastic tubes to hold discarded batteries (see http://batteryrecycling.com/).
When we fill up those, we go town to the Calabasas city hall, get some plastic buckets from them, and bring them back to city hall. They take care of them for no charge.
As for florescent bulb recycling, I have the phone number for the company that does it. There is a fee for their services. The website for this company is http://veoliaes.com/Home (Veolia Environmental Services).
By the way, I think Natale's idea about buying recycling bins is a good idea. The cost will be worth it in environmental benefit.
This brings up another idea--I would love it if our task force could be self-funded; that is, that we would generate our own sources of income to pay for our activities. Any ideas?
In our previous meeting we had discussed a book drive to raise funds. This type of thing would require a lot of coordination, time, and effort. That being said (written?) a book drive would be great because it ties in the idea of reusing/recycling.
